My partner and I have been trying to conceive for about three months.  My period is very regular, I track my periods, and my doctor confirmed that I seem to be ovulating right on schedule.  So knowing exactly when to give it our all is pretty easy for us.

My last period was March 13th 2010.  I was due for a period April 10th.  I am now eight days late.

On day six we went to the store to look at pregnancy tests.  I read the directions hoping to see "pee in a cup."  But all I saw was "pee on a stick."  According to the directions, the stick has to be facing a certain way, and you have to pee on it for a certain amount of time.  I've never taken a pregnancy test before, and it sounded like peeing on a stick for a certain amount of time left more room for error than peeing in a cup.  So I didn't buy any.  Instead I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if I can get in for a test this week.  I think I'd trust their results more than I would trust my own.

In the meantime, not much has changed.  I feel fine, no symptoms of either pregnancy or an oncoming period.  I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs.  I'm not on any prescription medication.  I've been staying away from over the counter medication.   I compared the vitamins that I already take to prenatal vitamins and found them to be almost exactly the same, so I have just been taking my usual ones.  Both my usual ones and the prenatals only had the minimum recommended amount of folic acid, which is pretty important for babies.  So I thought maybe I would throw in a lot of foods with folic acid for good measure.  But when I did some more research I found that my diet seems to be pretty folic acid-heavy as is.  So I bought some extra cereal and orange juice, and everything else pretty much stayed the same.
